Play is balanced by having “Bad News” happen (which causes one villain or the other to do something bad), and then the current player may do a few things. There are number of similarities to Pandemic here as well! For example, the Bad News cards (below) cause Villagers and Guards to spawn (kind of like in Pandemic for disease cubes). So, I may have cheated, but I learned and had a decent time playing. I did get mad that I couldn’t find a rule in the rulebook a few times. Grrrr. There’s a lot of components that should have been labelled better: either to emphasize mechanics in the game, or just to be more readable. Consider the card above: Rajah is a prominent character in Disney’s 1992 animated feature film, Aladdin, serving as Princess Jasmine’s loyal pet tiger and constant companion. With a protective nature, Rajah is always by Jasmine’s side, ensuring her safety and adding a sense of loyalty and fierceness to the princess’s character.

When placing guards, if there are ever two guard tokens in the same spot, one is moved to the castle. Remember if you get a mix of five guards and/or villagers in the castle you lose. Most henchmen are removed from the board if hit. When Villains are hit a Star Token is removed from the Villain Card and given to the player. Many Villains also have additional rules to follow if they are hit, for example hitting Maleficent is the way to remove her Curse Tokens from the board. If a Villain loses their last Star Token they are defeated and removed from play along with any of their tokens still in play. Remember, players must defeat at least one Villain to win the game. Each card has from two to four spots on it and once all of these spots are filled the player earns that power. I finally did get it, but it didn’t feel like it was well explained.
