About this deal

The beauty of this book is that it delivers its messages in the guise of a magical story, with complex characters who demand a reaction from the reader. Sorrel is easy to empathise and admire, whilst the controlling, blinkered headmaster has little to recommend him. Full of vivid imagery, you can easily imagine the setting and action, which is vital in any book. I liked the characters in here too. They are likable and I got used to them. And they each have their own little secret too. Oh, the second book (which I am partway through) says the characters are 16 (as they are having a birthday) so in this one they are 15. And it's set in Canada. But the thing is these three teens, they try to do things. They risk their lives to save others and hope an answer can be found. And the plants in here are never passive. They are out to get you.

Jenna Davenroy – A nuclear engineer in her 40s. She is the ladderdown expert on the Pasteur and also its chief propulsion monitor. But now it's too late; the seeds are growing on their own, and going from one head to another… spreading like an epidemic. Such a heartbreaking and yet beautiful little book. A mother of three sons, a beloved wife and an ardent traveler, Sam Bloom suffers a terrible accident that will leave her paralyzed from the chest down. A baby magpie that has fallen from her nest, wing broken, is taken home by the family to nurse and soon becomes an integral part of the Bloom family. Despite the tragedy which is of course horrible, there is so much love in this book. It shines through, in the photographs, which are gorgeous, but also in the smiles that light up the boys faces.

Y yo no las he olvidado, señor Kevin Panetta.

there's not much character depth and there's too much about being pretty and being jealous. the girls read kind of samey, and seth is just this moony kid in the middle of 'em; arbiter and prophetic dream-haver, forecasting that soon their individual "things" will transmute into another "thing" by which they will be identified. The witchhunt for the one who had anything to do with the Woekerkop/garden heads. That was just a bit over the top and I was actually thinking how hurtful it was to do all that to an eleven year old. Yes, she unleashed something that wasn't really OK, but to just do all that? No. People were overly rude and hurtful. This was such a hilarious and whimsical book, with a very unique story and style. I enjoyed reading this book so much!Ostensibly this is a romance between two young men (18 or 19?). Although nothing romantic really happens until about two-thirds of the way through the book. John Strasheim – The main character. Works as a cobbler on Ganymede, but is also a very good amateur journalist. It is the latter skill which causes him to be selected for the journey to the Earth. Cool, Mum!' I said, squeezing her hand. 'If she's thinking about it, that's a good thing, isn't it?' Oh, you know, the usual response. She'd think about it. Then she told me to go clean a gunked up tube that was clogged with processed cheese.' Mum stared at the pavement.
