Once there, her shape-shifting captor drops his disguise (though he retains claws throughout), revealing himself as Tamlin, a High Fae and, it turns out, a perfect host, despite the mask that never leaves his face.

There is a little mild swearing in this book, people are killed in very violent ways, some of the characters are known for being popular with the women, rape is mentioned. I would allow my 11 yr old grandchild to read them also tho their mother wouldn't feel the same but I think she's way over-protective. In books one and two, there is a little bit of physical stuff going on between characters, but not tons. It definitely is not a mature book, but there are some things in the books that you want to be mindful of. But it is more the content of throne of glass where they kill and murder and torture each other that little kids shouldn't read, especially if they have grown up in a more sheltered environment. But against that background, friendship, kindness, and connection are strong emerging forces that often drive the characters' choices. The cruel king is known for massacring entire populations, as well as burning books and libraries; over the course of the story, he kills many and threatens more.

It is over all a really good and addictive series i could not put it down and have reread it 6 times since. Multiple uses of crude language, including "s--t," "balls," "damn," and "hell," most often as "go to hell. i read this book when was in 6th grade, but i do think this book is more appropriate for 7th graders. It's vague enough the deeper meaning is lost on younger readers without the experience to draw on, and the implications in print are, for the most part, wrapped up in themes of love and mutual respect. I read it when I was thirteen and so did my friends and I loved it but I dont think an eleven year old should read it.Located in the Pacific Northwest of the US, Emily is a mom and part-time blogger, jumping in front of the computer when the kids are sleeping. Dark passageways lead to an ancient tomb, and the spirit of a long-dead queen involves herself in the plot.

I would say wait until 8th grade because this is before a kid goes to high school and life will be more interesting. I know it sounds weird but many of the romantic scenes from the fifth book up may scare sheltered children. they do have a few cringe love scenes but not very descriptive) Its not like parents can hide this from kids anyway.

We welcome respectful dialogue related to speculative fiction in literature, games, film, and the wider world. This was really shame since Maas took so much time to create all of these other diverse characters, but we didn’t always get to find out the best parts about them or what they could contribute.
